Kristen K. Vlaun, MPH, CHES
I am a Certified Health Education Specialists with more than 32 years of experience in community and public health and over 14 years teaching in higher education. I have served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, and at George Mason University in the New Century College and in the Department of Global and Community Health.
Across my academic teaching career, I have taught 10 in-person courses and 38 online courses, reaching more than 1,700 students. My teaching is informed by extensive applied public health leadership, including directing community-based health education initiatives and integrating real-world practice into course design, instruction, and student mentoring
I hold a Community Health Bachelor of Science degree from Radford University and a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington and was honored with the 2010 State of Oregon Governor’s Award for Physical Fitness Leadership.
